“Upon the advice of counsel, I must respectfully decline to answer your questions based on my rights under the 5th Amendment to the United States Constitution,” they all repeat this over and over and over again. Why do you think?
I too, refuse to incriminate myself on the basis of my past. After all, every day rises afresh from the hands of God and brings with it whatever it wills. Good or bad, joyful or painful, gracious or impolite; all these are meant for us. Not to break us, but to build us, to make us stronger and appreciative of the beauty that is life.
Yesterday is gone. A cool 24 hours, never to be repeated in life. What did you do with your time? What will come to haunt you tomorrow for having not done it? Last year you turned what 18, 25, 33?
You know it. Guess what, that year is gone. We came for the party, drank, danced, brought gifts, introduced a new friend and had a good laugh. Today, however, you are stressed, living in a drunken stupor of your past. Counting days and nights of your failures, dying hopes….
But, that is just that. And, it should stay there. A whole grand constitution has the 5th Amendment permitting one to refuse to incriminate themselves based on what they might have done or said. Ehee, tell me now, who are you again? What are you doing to yourself? If a whole government system can allow this for its citizenry, why don’t you also invoke the 5th on your past?
Let it disappear into oblivion. That baggage tormenting you is not worthy whatsoever. No growth. No development. No happiness. No enjoying life. Your soul is dark. Proud, unrepentant, unforgiving. No ray of hope.
Your past should not make you sit alone wallowing in regrets. Arise and start making dreams the world will care not to forget. Your mind cannot be constrained. It is our stories that make the ladders allowing us to touch the stars. So, climb and touch them. None of us were born to be common; we each are a unique creation. We are born to shine.
Arise. Awaken that sleeping giant; all those around you. Those of you who want to fly up high. Arise and let all awaken with you. Let us all illuminate the world and make it a better place, for our children and generations to come. Alone, you will be lonely and grumpy. Together, we are stronger. Arise now, time will not wait for you or me. Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock! The clock keeps snicking.
No more being bowled over by the darkness of life. This is a movement. Let us all arise and get to live a little heaven down here. Break the yoke of yester times. Peep into the dawn that is checking in. It is time for us to rewrite the stories of our lives; them days of not letting our light shine is gone. Blown away by the desert winds.
My dear. Let the uprising begin. Remold your life according to your desires. It is alright to fall but rise up again and restart the journey. Victory is about how many times you rise, dust yourself and starts afresh. It is the rise and fall that will make you a star, inspiring nations the world over. “But, I am old you may say.” I will remind you this, even biblical Abram, Hannah or even Ruth were well aged. Life had shown its back to them. Shuttered their hopes to the core. But remember, when a tree is cut, unless it is uprooted, it always shoots again to growth.
Together we can inspire the people of the world and generations to come. The sky I believe, is just a stepping stone along the journey of life. Let us break the chains and move yonder. You can do exceedingly abundantly more than you can ever imagine. Just believe in yourself.
