Long before you were born and became part and parcel of this life, you existed in the heart of God. You are His special, unique and precious creation. A masterpiece.
Now, I ain’t one to go for normal. Normal is boring. Why settle for average when youwere born special? I mean, there is no one like you in this entire world. The way you laugh, your voice, your handwriting, your reasoning even the way you walk. There is just you. And this is what First-string is all about.
First-string is about inspiring all of us; to start living spectacularly. It is about achieving the impossible, pushing through the limits, placing fear aside, acknowledging you are a unique creation and starting to live that beautiful life like there is no tomorrow. Here, we are going to scale heights, hit the wall, either make a way through it, around it or just climb it all together. Ours is to keep moving despite it all. After all, life has no repetition. We trudge this journey but once. And we leave our footprints in the hearts and lives of those we meet and whose souls we touch every single day.
Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” This is our calling, to be the best version of us that we can ever be.
First-string is a one-of-a-kind blog that is going to be amazing, inspiring, sensational, adventurous, revolutionary and at times, super emotional. (Please, when such a time comes, allow them tears to roll, it is medicine to the soul). We are going to share uplifting moments, celebrate our triumphs, face adversity with audacity and faith. Yes, faith in God; it is the ultimate start of our being.
It is a place for persons of all races, genders, interests. There will be something for everyone.
We are here to Share. Inspire. Grow.
I enjoy travel and photography – the picturesque views of Limuru and Kericho tea plantations, the winding turns of Iten, the valleys and hills of Keiyo, the golden wheat farms of Narok. My motherland is spectacular. How about the white sandy beaches of Diani, the wildebeest migration at the Mara, the mango farms of Ukambani and enjoying fish at the shores of Lake Victoria. There is always a reason to snap.
I love food, well cooked and served. A bowl of fries will do, any place, any time. And I love to bake too.
I enjoy a good laugh, sometimes letting a tear roll.
I love cars and racing bikes. A helmet and boots look sexy on a girl, right?
I am a natural girl, but I do dress-up with the girls. Adorning a hat and rubber shoes or boots is my style.
Chocolate and wine make my indulgence; while the company of children completes me. Their honesty, trust, energy, and resilience are uplifting. Kindness melts my heart. I will do charity work anytime, just give me a call.
My name is Wanjiku D. a mother, writer, student of life, motivational speaker and I am opening up my world to you.
At First-string, we do forgiveness. We do second and third chances. We let go and let God. We cast the shadows aside and start afresh.
There is never a better time like now!
